What is a Lip Lift?
A lip lift procedure, also called an upper lip lift, is a surgical procedure that involves removing a small strip of skin beneath the nose. This shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip, exposing more of the red lip (vermilion) for a fuller, more defined appearance and enhancing the lips’ natural contours.
The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia and usually takes about one hour to complete. Small incisions are made in the natural creases at the base of the nose to minimize scarring. Common techniques include the subnasal (bullhorn) lip lift and the gull-wing lip lift, which can enhance the vermilion and Cupid’s bow for more definition. This lip lift procedure provides permanent augmentation and permanent results, offering a long-lasting solution for a more youthful, shapely upper lip.
